South Eastern Oklahoma State University Mascot Design
SME, a sports branding company based in NYC, hired me to design the new mascot for SEOU. It's a rare opportunity to be able design a mascot for a school, and, in this particular case, it was a matter of being politically correct.   The school changed their mascot from "The Savages" to "The Savage Storm," so they wanted to go in a super hero direction.

Harajuku Lovers
This is an illustration that I was hired to create for Laird and Partners. Harajuku Lovers is the name of Gwen Stefani's clothing line. This is the key illustration for the campaign, which includes a commercial directed by Takashi Murakami, artist and innovator of superflat style illustration.

Condi Dice
These were illustrations that I did for a board game called "Condoleezza Dice."   Illustrations of Condoleezza Rice, Kofi Annan, Vladimir Putin, Hu Jintao, Tony Blair and Jacques Chirac were all printed on dice.

"The Laborer & the Snake"
-Aesop's Fables

A SNAKE, having made his hole close to the porch of a cottage, inflicted a mortal bite on the Cottager's infant son. Grieving over his loss, the Father resolved to kill the Snake. The next day, when it came out of its hole for food, he took up his axe, but by swinging too hastily, missed its head and cut off only the end of its tail. After some time the Cottager, afraid that the Snake would bite him also, endeavored to make peace, and placed some bread and salt in the hole. The Snake, slightly hissing, said: "There can henceforth be no peace between us; for whenever I see you I shall remember the loss of my tail, and whenever you see me you will be thinking of the death of your son."

The White Stripes
This illustration was featured on the White Stripes website (which has since been revamped).
"Joey Dynamo!
& Pico"

"The Flies and the Honey Pot"
-Aesop's Fables

A NUMBER of Flies were attracted to a jar of honey which had been overturned in a housekeeper's room, and placing their feet in it, ate greedily. Their feet, however, became so smeared with the honey that they could not use their wings, nor release themselves, and were suffocated. Just as they were expiring, they exclaimed, "O foolish creatures that we are, for the sake of a little pleasure we have destroyed ourselves." Pleasure bought with pains, hurts.

"80's Child"
This piece is dedicated to the cartoons of my childhood. People have asked me if I'm the boy portrayed in the illustration. I can't say that I consciously attempted to draw myself into the illustration, but I'm sure many days of my childhood were spent in front of the TV with the same vacant stare.

"Alien Planet"

"Who der givin' me bacon wingies?"
The narrative of this illustration is derived out of my endless love for bacon. Although it fills me with clolesterol laden, salty joy, my conscience never allows me to forget that a pig lived and died for that brief moment of heavenly mastication. One morning while on a typical bacon binge I came up with the idea for this illustration.

"What's that Sound?"

Very concerned monkies.

"Leporidae Periculosus"   ("Dangerous Rabbit" - I think)

This is an idea that I came up with while was working on a project for the band, Rabbits Against Magic . The project ended up going in a different direction, but I followed through on this angle for myself anyway.

Sports figures for mysportspixel.com
I created these designs for a sports website. I was asked to create a visual depiction of each of the various sports sections featured on the site. I also created illustrations for basketball, football, golf and hockey, which aren't shown.

"Night Thing!"

Honey Bear and the Pseudo Rhubarbos
This is a flyer/banner design that I created for my friends' band's show in upstate New York.   A name like "Honeybear and the Pseudo Rhubarbos" provides endless artistic possibilities. This year, the show was held on Friday the 13 th . Hence, the Jason theme.

Cover illustration for Luminescent Orhestrii
Luminescent Orchestrii is a gypsy band that is based in Brooklyn. Sxip Shirley came to me with the concept for the illustration, which is used on their cd cover and posters. Samples of Luminescent Orchestrii's music can be heard on their Web site at lumii.org. They're fantastic!
